Tomas Arbour

About

It was through the classical guitar that Tom's entry into the musical world began, starting aged 7 he went on to lead the National Youth Guitar Ensemble and play with the European Youth Guitar Ensemble whilst also picking up the clarinet, electric and acoustic guitars and a fondness for writing.

A few years on and his compositions were being performed publicly, in examinations and many new works commissioned by contemporary dance and theatre companies everywhere from Leeds to Mexico City.

Academically he studied with Robin Hill at the University of Leeds and Susana Prieto and Alexis Muzarakis at Strasbourg Conservatoire.

As a performer Tom now maintains a busy schedule playing all manner of venues. With funk, soul and modern jazz bands on electric guitar playing anywhere from enormous festival stages to underground jazz clubs. He was made the first guitarist on the ultra-luxury cruise yachts of Seabourn, where he also became their youngest ever Assistant Cruise Director.

From there he has performed recitals for Royal families, featured in the World Expo 2010 (Shanghai), praised in the national press and played on prime time BBC Radio; he once also cooked maybe the best beans on toast the world has ever seen. He has recently finished his second record 'Start Here' recorded at the BBC, the first to encompass his mix of interests.
